The Role

  1. Strategically lead on accountability to affected populations for the humanitarian work of Oxfam. This means supporting programmes to improve information sharing and transparency, participation, and feedback and complaints mechanisms, and organisationally to meet commitments to international standards, and continual improvement. To ensure that accountability translates and drives improvements in responses to strengthen the quality of the work.

  2. Lead and support in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the humanitarian accountability strategy, ensuring technical advice and specific responsibilities on the implementation of some components.

  3. Along with other advisers, leads and managers, promote safe-programming in all humanitarian responses. Be accountable for providing methodological approaches, frameworks and tools, as well as capacity building and accompaniment, to advisers as well as country responses to ensure that accountability shapes programme decisions, actively seek a partnership approach and worked following feminist principles including strong awareness of power dynamics.

  4. Develop a network of colleagues working on accountability across the confederation, and including partners where possible, to embed accountability in the culture and practice of Oxfam.

What we are looking for

You will have substantial experience of developing and delivering appropriate outcome-focused training programmes, staff development and coaching in teams, with a strong track record of providing effective programme advice at distance and in the field. Experience of working with organisational social accountability processes, excellent understanding of, and personal commitment to promoting gender equity and protection in humanitarian response. Understanding of and commitment to the aims and objectives of Oxfam, and commitment to humanitarian principles and action.

Please note this is a part time role (between 2 and 3 days per week) with flexibility in how the exact weekly hours are determined in conjunction with the successful candidate.
