A day in the life of an Accounts Payable Associate (Part-Time)

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and prayer. We hear from members of our staff, both from IHQ and our global offices, as well as special guest speakers who encourage us in God’s word. We then join together to pray for one another, as well as praying for staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. We get paid to start each day this way! 

This is a temporary part-time position lasting 4 months (16 weeks).

Job Duties

• Assists Accounts Payable Team in completing daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
• Serves as back-up to Accounts Payable staff.
• Prepares invoices for payment.
• Resolves discrepancies.
• Checks and reviews the General Ledger coding.
• Matches invoice to Purchase Order and Receiving Report.
• Follows-up on unpaid invoices and statements.
• Obtains approvals, as needed.
• May involve maintaining Accounts Payable address book.
• Follows policies and procedures of Samaritan’s Purse as set forth in the Policy Manual.
• Maintains a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.
• Attends daily morning devotions and participates in prayer support for the ministry, its donors, and volunteers.
• Other duties may be assigned that are not specifically identified within the content of the job description.

In the role of Accounts Payable Associate, you will provide assistance to the Accounts Payable Team with preparing invoices for payment, Security Guards set-up, and assisting with year-end.

Qualifications & Experience

• A personal, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and desire to continue being an active, consistent witness for Him.
• High School Diploma plus one (1) to two (2) years’ related experience and/or training.
• 1-2+ years related experience (required).
• A background in Accounts Payable or Finance (preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook (required).
• Attention to detail (required).
• Ability to calculate, present, and analyze financial information.
• Preparing and maintaining a variety of forms, records, reports, and documentation.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work with a diverse team in a pressured environment.
• Proven ability to work creatively and independently. A strong team player and adept at creating a strong team spirit.
