Summary
The Program Cycle Support (PCS) Associate Award is a five year, global activity that supports implementing partners (IP) efforts to design and implement evidence-based, effective, efficient and sustainable resilience food security activities funded by USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) that result in substantial food and nutrition security gains. You will help design and implement key events and capacity strengthening activities for PCS, particularly around end-of-cycle learning, and will be responsible for working with partners and USAID staff to develop in-person and virtual workshops that result in agreement on modifications to an activity’s design or transition/exit strategy that will result in sustainable outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Workshop Design and Facilitation (40%)
- Design and lead the implementation of participatory End-of-Cycle learning events for IP and BHA stakeholders.
- Build consensus on objectives and determine appropriate structure and necessary materials considering country context, stakeholders engaged, and timeline.
- Create engagement strategies and for relevant stakeholders–BHA technical staff, IP leadership and technical staff, USAID Mission staff and other national/local actors as appropriate–for transition or End-of Cycle learning events to ensure buy-in into the process and event outcomes/outputs.
- Define support needs from other members of the PCS team, including logistics, planning and session development with BHA and post-event review and follow-up activities.
- Support the PCS team as needed, in the design, implementation and facilitation of other R&I touchpoints, including Inception, Culmination, and Sustainability reviews.
Technical Capacity Strengthening (40%)
- Provide technical assistance for IPs to improve basic quality elements of theories of change (TOCs) prior to and following key events.
- Provide technical assistance for IPs to apply refinement period learnings to activity designs and implementation strategies.
- Provide technical assistance for IPs to articulate key components of sustainability planning.
- Support PCS leadership to develop strategies and guidance for BHA pre-workshop exercises to ensure effective and timely preparation.
Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (20%)
- Design and lead PCS team’s internal quarterly pause and reflect sessions.
- Contribute to workshop after action reviews.
- Oversee creation of case studies.
- Lead documentation of progress on PCS Learning Agenda.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least seven years of relevant experience
- Proven experience implementing and/or providing technical support to USAID-funded food security programs, preferably BHA- funded
- Demonstrated Experience developing and adapting BHA TOCs, TOC complementary documentation, Learning Agendas, and Results Frameworks
- Proven track-record designing participatory learning events and workshops involving donor and awardee stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate successfully with individuals and teams at all levels
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally, primarily to low-resource setting, up to 30% of the time
- Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in spoken and written French
