We are looking for an Advocacy Advisor Scotland at a pivotal time of transition and change for the organisation.
What you’ll be doing:
In this role, you will deliver advocacy, including policy development, in Scotland as it relates to Oxfam GB’s (OGB) influencing priorities. This postholder will have a focus on action to better value work which is disproportionately undertaken by women as part of efforts to tackle poverty and inequality in Scotland. It will also support Oxfam’s wider influencing on the climate emergency, humanitarian crises, and sustainable international development. Working closely with the Head of Oxfam Scotland and a Media and Communications Officer, you will ensure an effective influencing presence in Scotland, including through effective advocacy, partnership working and by supporting alignment of wider OGB teams.
You’ll have:
We’re looking for a candidate who cares about Oxfam’s mission to end poverty and is personally aligned to the values of empowerment, accountability and inclusion in all you do and our feminist principles.
An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:
- Direct advocacy or policy development experience, ideally on relevant topics, and an excellent understanding of the Scotland policy landscape
- Experience of direct public and political influencing and relationship building skills alongside a proven ability to create change.
- Experience of working in partnership with other stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English including the production of written materials for various audiences and purposes, and a comfort in dealing directly with the media.
- Creative and innovative in analytical thinking with proven sound judgement in a complex environment.
- Good understanding, commitment and ideally experience of embedding and continuously learning to embed a decolonial, safe, anti-racist, intersectional feminist and partner led approach in your work.
