The Analyst will support the work of CLERENS’ client, the European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE), a member-supported association representing organisations active across the entire energy storage value chain. EASE supports the deployment of energy storage to support the cost-effective transition to a resilient, low- carbon, and secure energy system.
EASE has over 50 members including utilities, technology suppliers, research institutes, distribution system operators, and transmission system operators. Together, EASE members have significant expertise across all major storage technologies and applications. This allows us to generate new ideas and policy recommendations that are essential to build a regulatory framework that is supportive of storage.
Main Duties:
The Analyst – Energy Storage Markets and System Integration will work in close collaboration with the EASE policy and communications teams. The role includes a broad range of responsibilities to strengthen EASE’s expertise and activities in the areas of market intelligence and system integration.
The main responsibilities include:
- Developing and leading the association’s market analysis and business intelligence activities: collecting data & insights, contributing to the European Market Monitor on Energy Storage, responding to ad-hoc requests from policymakers and members
- Monitoring and analysing energy storage market developments; preparing newsletters and reports for EASE members;
- Keeping up to date with the latest research covering energy storage technologies, applications, and markets; providing advice and expertise to the policy and communications teams to support the association’s advocacy activities;
- Drafting research papers, presentations, and consultation replies;
- Leading the work of several EASE Task Forces and Working Groups, covering topics such as levelised cost of storage, storage safety, electricity network codes, and the role of storage in distribution and transmission networks in collaboration with EASE members;
- Representing EASE at workshops, conferences, and networking events, liaising with external stakeholders such as system operators’ associations.
Requirements and competencies:
- 2 to 5 years of experience in the energy sector, ideally with prior experience in energy storage;
- Passionate about the energy transition, strong research skills, and ability to easily understand and communicate about complex technical issues
- Strong interest in energy storage technologies, applications, and role in the broader energy system;
- Knowledge or experience in any of the following areas would be a plus: energy system modelling, energy markets, system operation, electricity network codes;
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and plan to meet challenging deadlines;
- Fluency in English is necessary; any additional European languages are an asset;
- A university degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience;
- Strong writing and oral presentation skills;
- Ability to learn quickly and work on a wide range of issues;
- Leadership skills, ability to work in a close-knit team, flexibility.
