1- Background
Since 2012, The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Jordan country program, with funding support from various related agencies and donors, has been responding to the Syrian emergency following the eruption of Syrian conflict 9 years ago, which led to a huge number of displaced populations, including over 650,000 refugees into Jordan. LWF has continued playing an active role in the coordination of emergency response including UNHCR led sector working groups. In addition, LWF is also an active member of ACT alliance at country and regional level. The LWF Jordan program activities focuses on the sectors of protection, basic needs, livelihood and education in the governorates of Mafraq, Irbid, Zarqa and Amman.
LWF Jordan is implementing a project funded by ELCA (the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) aims to improve the diversity of food and nutrition security of Syrian refugees and host communities in Irbid governorate and increase the household’s income through livestock. Therefore, LWF will be distributing 100 goats to 50 households for this purpose.
1- Duties and Responsibilities
The Animal Husbandry / production will do the following tasks:
· Determine the goat’s selection criteria with explanation and justification for each one and consolidate this into a report
· Be involved in discussions with stakeholders (including the Ministry of Agriculture) and participate in committees related to the goat’s selection and distribution
· Selection of the goats as per the agreed upon criteria
· Support the distribution process to beneficiaries if needed
· Answering any question from the beneficiaries in regard to the distributed goats within one week from the distribution’s time and Follow up with the beneficiaries by answering their questions by phone for 2 months
· Provide advice and best practices for beneficiaries on how to look after the goats.
· Conducting training courses for 50 beneficiaries on How dairy produce from milking goats till products storage and make training course on animal husbandry and nutrition for beneficiaries
· Preparing training materials & instructing videos.
· Supervising the fabrication of feed mixtures for goats
2- Scope of Work

Therefore, LWF will be distributing 100 goats (Maybe less or more, depending on the market price) to 50 households for this purpose.
The beneficiaries will use the goats for dairy production and make the best use of it to increase their nutrition diversity and generate new income resources.
3- Expected Outputs and Deliverables
the consultant will do:
· A report in English listing the goat’s selection criteria with explanation for each one
· 100 goats are selected as per the approved selection criteria
· Final report for the service including selection criteria, beneficiaries’ question, and process evaluation
· Final report for the service including materials, beneficiaries’ question, and process evaluation.
· Pre and post evaluations to the training.
· High quality training makes the beneficiaries able to produce the dairy from the goat’s milk in the best ways and tools.
· Practical training for beneficiaries.
· Focus on reaching results while ensuring an efficient process.
· Involve relevant parties and encourage feedback.
· Take ownership and initiative while aiming for innovation.
· Listen and speak effectively and honestly.
4- Indicators to evaluate the consultant’s performance
Performance indicators are:
· Quality of reports
· Feedback from SLO & beneficiaries
· Finalization for the selection and distribution process
5- Contract and Duration
The services should be delivered between mid of Sep. till December the 1st of 2021.
6- Duty Station
Lutheran Welfare Federation / Jordan program/ Irbid community center with possible travel to goats’ supplier’s location.
7- Qualifications and experience
Essential:
· Proven experience of delivering assignments of similar nature
· University degree in agricultural engineering ( Animal husbandry or production)
· Experience in small ruminant farm husbandry and management
· Demonstrate understanding of working with vulnerable beneficiaries, ability to respect the beneficiaries’ culture and beliefs and the ability to treat them all equally
· Arabic Speaker (Native).
· Have TOT certificates. Have farmers training experience
· Demonstrate understanding of working with vulnerable trainees, ability to respect the participants’ culture and beliefs and the ability to treat them all equally;
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
· Self-directed and able to take initiative;
· Commitment to LWF policies on promoting gender equality and diversity in the interests of marginalized people;
Desirable:
· Experience on small ruminant farm
· Experience on Dairy production: Small ruminants
· Self-directed and able to take initiative
· Experience in preparing and writing bids requirements (documents)
