Under the direction of the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Major Gifts (MG) and the leadership team, the Associate Director plans, implements and evaluates all aspects of donor engagement and communications across MG, mid-level (ML) and planned giving (PG) teams. The Associate Director implements strategic directions for areas of assignment and works to ensure goals are met. They lead year-round donor engagement plan and ensures high quality and successful engagement opportunities, communications and events.
Responsibilities:
Manages and partners with Marketing, Programs, Resource Development Communications, Office of the President, Country Offices in developing fundraising communications and donor engagement strategies and content for internal and external audiences

• Builds, updates and implements a donor communications and engagement calendar. Drafts cover notes, summaries, appeals, invitations, solicitations letters.
• Plan, writes and executes major donor communications pieces like Impact Magazine.
• Supports City Committees, Circle 75 and CARE Crisis Response campaign donor and prospecting strategies.

• Serves as focal point for the MG team and supports strategies for signature CARE Crisis Response Campaign events like Impact Awards, CNC etc.
• Establishes trust, maintain strong relationships, and develops partnerships with all CARE stakeholders, especially marketing, media, programs, country offices.
Collaborates across fundraising channels to contribute to supporter experience strategy

• In partnership with regional EDs, builds relationships with local leaders, donor groups, influencers to secure support and visibility for CARE across regions.

• Stays abreast of philanthropic, economic, social, and community trends related to CARE and share relevant information with colleagues;

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years professional experience in nonprofit events, donor engagement and/or external relations
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Familiarity with all aspects of fundraising concepts, including Planned Giving, Major Gifts and stewardship functions
- Passion and commitment to CARE’s mission and values
- A creative thinker with proven ability to produce and manage multiple events at one time
- A self-starter, detail oriented, well- organized and able to plan and execute events from conception to completion
- Has excellent communication and writing skills, good judgment and discretion, and the ability to successfully interact with donors, board members, guest speakers and staff at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to establish, cultivate and steward strong relationships with internal and external audiences
- Demonstrated ability to build successful signature events and innovative donor engagement strategies
- Ability to develop and execute fundraising strategies and plans that integrate into the organization’s mission, priorities and goals
- Uses compelling arguments to gain the support and commitment of others
- Resolves conflicts and differences through dialog and open communication – rebounds from setbacks and adversity when facing difficult situations
- Consistently achieves results, even under tough circumstances. Develops a challenging vision of the future and strives to create it through winning new business
