Coursera was launched in 2012 by two Stanford Computer Science professors, Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller, with a mission to provide universal access to world-class learning. It is now one of the largest online learning platforms in the world, with 92 million registered learners as of Sept. 30, 2021. Coursera partners with over 250 leading university and industry partners to offer a broad catalog of content and credentials, including Guided Projects, courses, Specializations, certificates, and bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Institutions around the world use Coursera to upskill and reskill their employees, citizens, and students in many high-demand fields, including data science, technology, and business. As a key member of our New Partner Development team, you will be responsible for cultivating the growth of Coursera’s degree business through new university partnerships. It will be your responsibility to establish meaningful relationships with globally top ranked institutions which will deliver transformational degree programs on Coursera. Leveraging your superior strategic thinking and entrepreneurial focus, you will be critical in shaping Coursera’s degree business by closing new programs that will enable more degree pathways for our learners.
Responsibilities:
- Build a pipeline of degree business by proactively identifying and cultivating relationships with aligned institutions new to Coursera
- Use in-depth knowledge of higher education trends and data-driven insights to consult and support prospective partners on the Coursera degree platform value proposition
- Manage the degree sourcing process from beginning through negotiation and close
- Revenues: Grow revenues at a high rate by identifying, prioritizing, and executing on opportunities to create shared value across all of Coursera channels that can transform the lives of learners
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 6+ years of experience in client facing role managing complex relationships (Business Development, Consulting, Account Management, Higher Ed, Digital and Online Programs)
- Demonstrated experience in navigating university culture, teaching, and decision-making processes
- Experience in designing and executing high-leverage action plans; comfortable taking a hypothesis-driven approach with complex or conflicting data
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6+ years experience in strategic new relationship building with leading global higher ed institutions
- Effective communication and influencing skills with the ability to pitch comprehensive online degree solutions for targeted new partnerships
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent written, presentation and negotiation skills and ability to create and deliver convincing arguments
- A creative mindset that excels at executing a long-term vision and program plans with new institutions, and is comfortable working with set targets
- Strong cross-functional leadership with internal teams, and in working in a complex and dynamic environment with many internal and external stakeholders
- A strongly self-motivated professional with commercial acumen and executive presence, including the ability to leverage data and detailed knowledge of the degree market landscape in consultative sales contexts
- Passion for Coursera’s mission, building trusted relationships, and achieving ambitious goals to bring high-quality content to learners around the world
