The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking an analytical and self-motivated Business Engagement Associate to support the business engagement strategy of SUN Business Network (SBN).

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.
About the role
GAIN Pakistan is looking for a self-motivated, team player to support the business engagement strategy of SUN Business Network (SBN). The SBN is one of four global networks within the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement which supports to develops multi-stakeholder strategies to scale up nutrition at the national level. The SBN is the principal vehicle for business engagement under SUN Movement, both in informing the ongoing policy, advocacy and knowledge sharing agenda, and in tracking the commitments and program investments of businesses in support of SUN national nutrition strategies.
The network’s ambition in Pakistan is to increase desirability, availability, and affordability of safe and nutritious foods in Pakistan through Improving the enabling environment for business to take action on nutrition; Assessing the challenges and opportunities facing business in scaling up their investments in nutrition; Fostering partnerships between business and other nutrition partners, such as government, civil society, donor and the UN and; Ensuring that the SBN mobilizes business behind the government’s National Nutrition Strategy.
The Business Engagement Associate will support the network’s research and analysis, engagement of companies, country activities, and communications.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Conduct research/analysis in thematic areas of SBN and understand the food systems and its functioning and dynamics in rural and urban areas
- Identify potential solutions and gaps inhibiting nutrition and identify strategically important businesses in Pakistan to develop engagement to address the issue.
- Meet companies and develop membership and facilitate engagement and partnerships with SMEs and large businesses.
- Coordinate with global communications team and develop communications materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contextualize monitoring and result from measurement tools developed by the global team and track and collect relevant information from members and partners to report internally and externally.
- Lead SBN influencing and engagement events and organize regular meetings of the SBN network, prepare presentations and ensure participation of members and stakeholders.
About you
Candidates for this position should have strong analytical skills with knowledge of executing qualitative and quantitative research alongside the analysis of complex systems. You must also have great communication skills and be willing to travel in the country and globally as necessary.
- Bachelors or master’s degree in business administration, supply chain, international business, entrepreneurship & innovations or equivalent work experience
- Experience in food sectors, preferably in marketing and supply chain or business development functions
- Knowledge of food systems and private sector landscape of Pakistan
- Private sector or business development project experience
