Project Objective:

SI is implementing the USAID/Vietnam Learns Contract. The scope of the five-year project is to support USAID/Vietnam staff and its implementing partners to implement more efficient, effective, and sustainable programs by (1) improving staff knowledge and skills in Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) and Collaborating, Learning & Adapting (CLA); (2) advancing evidence-informed decision-making; (3) strengthening strategic collaboration between staff and local stakeholders.

Position Description:

Social Impact is seeking highly qualified environmental research experts to provide analytical and research support on upcoming assessments and evaluations under the USAID/Vietnam Learns contract. Consultants will work closely with our Hanoi office staff to plan, coordinate, and conduct a variety of environment and natural resource management-related research and evaluation projects for the USAID Mission. Positions are available for candidates based both in and outside Vietnam and may include but are not limited to the following: Evaluation Team Leader; Research Specialist; Public Health Evaluation Advisor; Research Coordinator.

Illustrative Responsibilities:

  • Work with USAID and the Vietnam Learns team to create data collection plans.

  • Develop both qualitative and quantitative research tools.

  • Design and disseminate surveys.

  • Conduct in-depth interviews with beneficiaries and other key informants.

  • Analyze collected data and write final reports.

  • Facilitate regional events to share and validate initial findings.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in environmental studies, natural resource management, international development, or a related field and at least seven years of relevant work experience.

  • Significant experience conducting research, evaluations, and/or assessments in one or more of the following topics: clean energy, wildlife protection, environmental pollution, climate change, and forest protection and management.

  • Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.

  • Experience working on international donor-funded research projects. USAID experience highly preferred.

  • Previous work experience in Vietnam or other Southeast Asian countries.

  • Strong understanding of environmental issues, policies and strategies in the context of Vietnam and the Mekong region preferred.

  • Oral and written fluency in English. Vietnamese language skills desirable.
