Equal Measures 2030 (EM2030) is a unique cross-sector partnership of leading organizations from civil society and the development and private sectors hosted by Plan International. We work to ensure that girls’ and women’s movements, advocates and decision makers have the data they need, and in a format, they can use, to guide and drive faster progress towards the gender equality commitments in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The partnership is a joint effort of organizations from civil society and the development and private sectors including: Asia-Pacific Resource and Research Centre for Women (Arrow), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, CLADEM, Data2X, the African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET), the International Women’s Health Coalition (IWHC), KPMG International, ONE Campaign, Plan International, Tableau Foundation and Women Deliver.

Equal Measures 2030 also has national partners across seven focus countries in Latin America, Africa, and Asia.Equal Measures 2030 is undertaking a cross-partnership effort to develop a compelling communications campaign in 2021 to support advocacy and drive ambitious commitments linked to the Generation Equality Forum and Action Coalitions. We are looking for a Campaign Outreach and PR Assistant to support with campaign planning, administration,and execution(between April and early July). The Campaign Outreach and PR Assistant will especially drive outreach to target audiences(especially women’s movements and feminist advocates)and engagement with feminist media outlets ahead of, and during, the campaign.

Scope of work and deliverables

Working closely with the Head of Communications, and others across the EM2030 team and partnership, the Campaign Outreach and PR Assistant will:

  • Assist in media landscape analysis, with a focus on specialised feminist media outlets
  • Create media lists that meet the target criteria, develop pitches, and pitch directly or support the head of communications in pitching, as needed
  • Help define wider stakeholder groups, especially women’s movements and gender equality advocates globally
  • Develop and execute engagement plans with key stakeholders, to increase uptake of and engagement with the campaign
  • News monitoring and tracking of media coverage and PR metrics (e.g. web and social analytics)
  • Drafting press releases
  • Support with the development of a campaign workplan, and manage and track the plan once agreed
  • Manage calendars (editorial, press conferences, gender equality online events etc.) and media lists
  • Assist in organizing and execution of events, campaign activations, etc.
  • Conduct research to support PR planning
  • Suggest and implement ways to streamline communications and campaign execution

Required technical expertise, skills and knowledge

Essential

  • Proven experience working on communications campaign planning, administration and execution (especially outreach and PR)
  • Knowledge of (and ideally experience working with) feminist organisations and movements at global, regional and national level
  • Knowledge of intersectional feminism principles, gender equality and girls’ and women’s empowerment agenda and the SDGs
  • Self-starter with high attention to detail and very good professional judgement
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to work independently
  • Experience working and living outside of Europe and North America

Desirable

Fluent in Spanish and/or French

Budget and ways of working

  • The consultant will be home-based
  • The consultant will report to the Head of Communications(based in the UK) and to others across the Secretariat and partnership as needed
  • The Secretariat is based across the world, from Mexico to India time zones
  • The Scope of Work is estimated to take between 25 and 45 days (especially between April and early July), but consultants should provide further detail on their proposed timing and costings in their Cover Letter
