For our operations in Kathmandu/Nepal, we are looking for an
**
Civil Peace Service (CPS) Advisor (m/f/d) for ‘Thematic Team Dealing with the Past’
**
Field of activity
GIZ’s Civil Peace Service (CPS) programme “Systematic strengthening and linking of local and national potentials for peace in a post-conflict phase” in Nepal aims at creating spaces for non-violent conflict transformation. It does so through support to community mediation, dialogue forums, non-violent communication and theatre for conflict transformation. CPS further works with local actors to promote holistic approaches to Dealing with the Past, that promotes justice, reconciliation and healing. In the area ‘Dealing with the past’, CPS currently works with a team of two national and two international peace advisors. The team works with victims’ groups, and other actors, to enhance their capacities to conduct meaningful memory work that fosters intra-personal and inter-personal healing. CPS further supports conflict victims and their communities to take forward memorialization work and related advocacy.
**
Your tasks
- Support different conflict victims´ groups and partner organisations in design and implementation of memorialization work and peace education
- Capacity building of victims´ groups and other concerned stakeholders on holistic and restorative approaches to Dealing with the Past, Memory Work and Peace Education
- Co-design and co-facilitate workshops, trainings and meetings together with national peace advisors
- Support peer-to-peer processes and participatory approaches to story collection, documentation and editing
- Support partner organizations in the process of collection, curation, analysing, securing and archiving sensitive, victim-related data
- Contribute to organizational and network development of partners
- Contribute to project management and strategic planning; monitoring, evaluation and reporting
- Conduct ongoing context research, conflict analysis and needs assessment of partners
**
Your profile
- University degree in social science, psychology, social work or related subject; Postgraduate research in related area would be an asset
- Well-founded knowledge about concepts and methods of Memory Work and Peace Education
- Several years of working experience in Memorialization/Memory Work in a post-conflict country
- In-depth working experience in Dealing with the Past, reconciliation and peace building in general
- Experience and sensitivity in working with victims and survivors and their associations
- Knowledge about and experience of secure archiving of data and analysis and about using digital platforms for Memory Work
- Experience in curating materials for different audiences
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Nepali language would be an asset or willingness to learn Nepali language
