Position

Options seeks a consultant to articulate our offer and value add within the climate change-health nexus and recommend a roadmap to support our positioning within the sector, including technical positioning, smart partnership and prioritised clients.

The purpose of the assignment is to articulate Options’ unique offer and value add within the climate change-health nexus and recommend a roadmap to support our positioning within the sector, including technical positioning, smart partnership and prioritised clients.

Objectives

The assignment includes the following objectives:

Understand and prioritise the smart partnerships for Options that have the potential to unlock these opportunities and technical areas. Including how these partnerships might complement or strengthen Options’ offer, with the aim of identifying a shortlist of priority potential partners though which Options can build credibility, commercial opportunities and impact.

Identify up to four innovations with strong evidence of effectiveness or innovation market trends which have impact within the climate change-health nexus that support Options’ service offer. To include recommendations on existing or emerging health innovations that have potential to strengthen

Build the technical business case to answer the question ‘Which specific technical areas and where should Options prioritise in working at the intersection of health and the environment/climate change?’ Identify viable opportunities for Options to achieve impact in the short, medium and long term and any gaps in the market that are strategic opportunities for Options.

Understand and prioritise our clients and potential clients. Building on the first objective, outline which clients, their investment appetite, priorities and concrete funding and commercial opportunities Options could be positioned for within a one to two year horizon.

Assignment key questions

The assignment aims to answer the following guiding questions:

  • What specific areas at the intersection of health and climate change should Options focus on?
  • Who are clients and potential partners we should prioritise?
  • What is Options’ unique offer and value-add within the sector – both in terms of leveraging existing expertise as well as new innovative solutions?
  • What additional resourcing or actions need to happen to progress and support this agenda?

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience in strategic planning for new areas of organisational growth
  • Specialist knowledge of the climate-health nexus market, including clients, key actors and technical areas of opportunity
  • Experience working with similar international development organisations, private sector or investment/funding organisations that cut across the climate/environment-health nexus
