The United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY Peacebuilders) is looking for a co-director with a focus on programmes, starting in November 2020. Full time leadership position on 1 FTE, based in The Hague.
UNOY Peacebuilders is a youth network of over a 100 youth-led peace organisations across 50 countries around the world. Our International Secretariat is located in The Hague, the International City of Peace and Justice. The Secretariat is run by a young and dedicated international team of nine staff, four interns, and remotely based regional coordinators. The management of the network is shared by two co-directors. We are now looking for a co-director (programmes), an existing and renamed position, who will lead UNOY’s advocacy programme and oversee our network coordination, capacity development programme, and communications strategy. The co-director (programmes) is also responsible for HR management, policies and processes. Fundraising is an essential component of the position.
Five years after the adoption of the first UN Security Council Resolution 2250 recognising the importance and role of youth in peacebuilding, UNOY has paved the way for critical developments in the Youth, Peace, and Security field. In 2021, we will enter into a new strategic period, with a focus on five change domains. Our goal is to continue shaping the global agenda for youth, peace and security, by supporting youth-led creative approaches to peace and, to prioritise the protection of the civic space of young peacebuilders and leverage the solidarity in the network, and to better support our members’ resilience to emerging developments. This strategy will unfold while UNOY is also undergoing significant organisational developments through a process of decentralisation and growth. The new co-director programmes will have an exciting role in leading and shaping the implementation of our new five-year strategy and supporting organisational change.
We strongly encourage candidates under the age of 27 and from the Global South to apply. The position will include regular travel within Europe and beyond, once the COVID-19 pandemic has stabilised.
