Job Summary

This Senior Staff Attorney will contribute to the delivery of pro bono support under the Family Group Legal Orientation Program (FGLOP), which includes leading legal trainings (live, virtual, and pre-recorded), assisting with the development of a pro bono manual and other resources for legal service providers and pro bono attorneys, and managing the new pro bono case placement platform to promote Family Group LOP cases from dedicated docket jurisdictions.

 

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Conduct research and write memoranda, articles, frequently for publication.

Provide substantive advice, information and make policy recommendations.
Serve as principal ABA expert on a substantive area of law or public policy. Includes contacts with government entities and with the media.

Give presentations and/or teach on legal and public policy issues. Design substantive   content of events, developing model documents and resources, and conducting trainings.

Manage substantive/legal project aspects.  Coordinate or support member sub-groups and coordinate with external constituencies.
Manage consultants, interns/externs.

Analyze laws, regulations, court rules and policies/policy proposals; prepare memoranda of law or on public policy.

Research, draft, write, review substantive legal resources, including manuals, practitioner advisories, blog posts, and other educational materials for attorneys, legal staff, and others on immigration law.

Coordinates multiple webinar trainings throughout the year on a variety of topics in immigration law including development of material, presenting, and recruiting outside experts to present at trainings.

Perform other related duties as required.

 

Required Education, Qualifications, Experience

Doctoral Degree (JD, PhD) and active bar admission in at least one jurisdiction.  At least 4 years working in relevant specialized area of law. High level of skills at legal writing and research, oral and written communications, and organizational skill.
