How can you make a difference?

The efficient and effective technical, administrative and operational support provided to the development and implementation of C4D advocacy initiatives and products directly impact on the ability of UNICEF to promote social, political and economic action and changes in behaviors, social attitudes, beliefs and actions by communities, individuals and societies on child rights, survival and wellbeing. 

The Communication for Development Officer is responsible for the development, planning, management, and implementation monitoring of evidence based, inclusive and innovative C4D/social and behaviour change  communication (SBCC) micro-strategies, plans and partnerships in support of the divisional office results and overall country programme.

Major duties and responsibilities of the position are as follows:

1. C4D Micro-Strategy Design, Work Planning and Implementation Monitoring

2. Networking, Partnerships and Coordination

3. Local Capacity Development and Systems Strengthening in C4D

4. C4D related Research, Analysis and Knowledge Management

5. Local Advocacy and Media Relations Support

6. Local Material Production and Dissemination

7. Support to Field Office Operations and Management

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A university degree in the social/behavioural sciences (Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, communication, Health communication, and Health Education) with emphasis on participatory communication, communication planning, social mobilization, participatory research, training and impact evaluation of social and behaviour change communication interventions.

      *An Advanced university degree in the social/behavioural sciences listed above is an asset.

  • At least 5 years progressively responsible work experience in the planning and management of social development programmes, including two years at sub-national level, with practical experience in the adaptation and application of C4D planning processes to specific programmes.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language.
