Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Communication Specialist or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer in Communication will:
• To provide assistance in improving content and design of CO website;
• To provide assistance in setting up and maintaining social media platforms;
• In collaboration with program staff, write human interest stories for donor reports and blogs;
• To take photos to be used In human interest stories;
• To support in creating factsheets, case studies and brochures for the programme;
• To assist in edit donor reports drafted in English by national colleagues to ensure quality of
documents;
• To assist in proofreading documents translated from Mongolian into English.
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in public relations, journalism or equivalent;
24 Months
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience (up to 2 years) in public relations, journalism, social media marketing, communication, public advocacy or equivalent required;
- Motivated to contribute towards peace and development and to serve others;
- Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills;
- Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
- Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;
- Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions;
- Fluency in spoken and written English (language) is required;
- Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photshop social media, and others).
- Experience using open text website management tools and managing organisational social media platforms and developing/working within corporate communications strategies.
- Good writing and editing skills.
- Skills to formulate advocacy messages, communication materials.
- Experience working in developing countries.
