Compensation and Benefits Analyst
Position Summary
To provide analytical and administration support for NDI’s compensation and benefits programs, acting as a resource for staff and supporting the execution of related human resources initiatives, projects, policies, and programs.
Essential Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Support the delivery and administration of NDI benefits programs by performing timely and accurate updating of enrollment/participation information and records.
- Serve as a resource and conduit for providing accurate and timely responses to employees related to benefits questions and needs, including those related to obtaining clarification about plan provisions, enrollment, and eligibility. Conducts benefits orientation, as needed.
- Support the processing and administration of leave requests, e.g., FMLA, paid family leave, etc., ensuring that relevant forms and supporting documentations are provided to and collected from employees to ensure timely and accurate approval and tracking/documentation processes.
- Work with the Senior Benefits Manager to ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits invoices/payment requests.
- Utilize the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to generate required routine reports and performing general analysis related to compensation and benefits.
- Assists with the execution of various compensation and benefits processes/projects including, but not limited to, the annual/mid-year performance review processes, salary and benefits survey participation, market analysis, open enrollment, and retirement plan committee meetings.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to compensation and benefits programs and assist with or lead the development of related communications and trainings for employees to ensure understanding and compliance.
- Participate as a member of the Human Resources team, attending staff meetings, and supporting the implementation and administration of various department initiatives, managing, performing, or assisting with various projects, processes, and program.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state employment laws and maintain the confidentiality of all Human Resources-related information and other confidential matters related to NDI operations.
Peripheral Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Recommend improvements and enhancements to Human Resources processes and procedures.
- Maintain a focus on professional development and keep abreast Human Resources trends and issues, particularly those related to developments in compensation and benefits.
- Perform other duties as required.
Parameters
- Incumbent works independently under general direction in accordance with established position expectations/goals, policies, practices and procedures.
- Incumbent regularly interacts with staff at all levels within NDI. Some interaction with external vendors and providers is required to support compensation and benefits administration activities.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
- Five years of relevant work experience, with progressive experience in administering employee benefits and/or compensation programs. Previous experience with a human resources information system, preferably UltiPro.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of and capabilities of an HRIS and the requirements associated with data entry, data management, and report generation/analysis.
- General knowledge of human resources policies and procedures, particularly related to benefits and/or compensation administration.
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations, particularly those related to benefits, leave, and compensation and the ability to apply that knowledge effectively to ensure compliance.
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively at all levels across all levels of the organization, demonstrating diplomacy, tact, responsiveness, and professionalism.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, a high attention to detail, the ability to and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-initiative and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, and compare information/data and demonstrate math skills to ensure calculations are performed accurately and numbers can be reconciled.
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality and ensure such information is secured and maintained in an appropriate manner.
- Proactive with the ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Technical skills in the use of WORD, PowerPoint, and other related office software, and an advanced level of proficiency in Excel. Familiarity or experience with Google Suite is a plus.
Certifications/Licenses
- None required.
- A Professional Human Resources (PHR), SHRM, or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), or World at Work certification is a plus.
Work Environment
This position generally works in an office environment and is eligible to telecommute.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear; is occasionally required to walk; will use hands and fingers to operate, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with the hands and arms; must be able to work for prolonged periods of sitting or standing at desk and working at a computer; and may be required to lift/carry computer equipment at times.
