- Development of a methodology for the Strategy development. This includes review of current UNICEF LACRO KM products and tools both in child protection and in other sections, consultations with KM target audience, current tools available, platforms the KM target audience access within and outside of UNICEF for different information, and platforms UNICEF has available.
- Produce a draft strategy for KM for the section for the next 4 years. This strategy, based on the KM assessment, should consider:
- Requirements of the user/target audience
- The time and resources available dedicate to KM
- The actual use of each of the products in the Child Protection area
- Alignment with the HQ KM framework and the KM work happening in other LACRO programme sections
- Proposed implementation plan and roll out approach
- Final strategy which considers the feedback of the reference group.
- Based on the final report, a webinar and PowerPoint presentation to share the findings.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Master or advanced university degree in Knowledge/Information Management, or Child Protection related disciplines with an information management background, or other related fields.
- Five years of progressively responsible relevant work experience at the national and international level in knowledge management or information management. Similar assignment in the LAC Region and/or other parts of the world; experience working in the UN and other international development organizations an advantage; work experience in the Child Protection sector an advantage; strong written and spoken communication skills; proven capacity to work in an international environment.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese will be considered an asset.
- Technical knowledge: Professional technical knowledge and expertise in Microsoft, web-based platforms and other products, tools and databases that can be used for knowledge management an advantage.
Supervision: This assignment will be supervised by the LAC Regional Child Protection Adviser, in collaboration with the Programme Officer.
Workplace: The consultant will work remotely, home-based. The consultant will use his/her own equipment and resources [laptop, software, etc.]. The consultant must have internet and the tools to communicate [via Skype, Zoom, Teams, telephone, etc.]. No travel is expected within the context of this assignment.
Duration: This consultancy is expected to last approximately 35 working days, within 4 months. The estimated start date is 3 May 2021.
