How can you make a difference?
Under the overall supervision of Deputy/Programme Lead, HIV and AIDS section and in consultation with the Advocacy and Partnerships Specialist, the consultant will be responsible for following deliverables:
1. 2021 World AIDS Day AIDS report:
- A flagship report for dissemination on new statistics and UNICEF global achievement of reaching children and adolescents and young mother living with HIV and AIDS.
2. Breakthrough Partnership Advocacy Mapping report:
- Analysis and summary report of country consultations on advocacy scanning.
3. Global Annual Results Report and derivative products:
- Desk-review: report to UNICEF Board, UNICEF Country Office Annual Reports, RAM, Regional Analysis Reviews, divisional reports, donor reports, Reports on Children and HIV to PCB/UNAIDS, country information.
- Analysis / screen COARS and identification country examples.
- In consultation with programme leads, collect country examples and identify stories following the strategic direction of the Chief of HIV and AIDS section.
- Write-up select sections of the HIV and AIDS chapter of the Global Annual Results Report delivered according to guidelines established by PD Director’s Office and PPD.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- A Master’s degree in Public Health, International Development Studies, Human Rights, any Social Sciences discipline or literature.
- At least 7 years of progressively responsible work experience at the international level in HIV and AIDS programme management, policy advocacy and policy formulation, design and management of HIV and AIDS research. Proven excellent abilities as technical writer.
- Knowledge on and experience working on gender issues, social justice and human rights related issues highly desirable. Familiarity with the United Nations System.
- Excellent editorial, writing, reviewing and editing skills in English.
- Ability to work independently, maintaining effective working relationships with those interact professionally.
Requirements
- Completed profile in UNICEF’s e-Recruitment system and provide Personal History Form (P11) Upload copy of academic credentials
- Financial proposal that will include:
- your daily/monthly rate (in US$) to undertake the terms of reference
- travel costs and daily subsistence allowance, if internationally recruited or travel is required as per TOR.
- Any other estimated costs: visa, health insurance, and living costs as applicable.
- Indicate your availability
- Any emergent / unforeseen duty travel and related expenses will be covered by UNICEF.
- At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage.
- Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed satisfactory deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.
U.S. Visa information:
With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4.
