Position description
The African Alliance was founded as a queer-led non-profit organisation in 2013 to provide a space where some of the continent’s best minds in the development and transformation space could come together to collaborate, strategise and collectively advance rights-based work with a shared understanding of our past, our present and our hopes for the future. Over the years, the work of Alliance has grown from being a consulting agency to a full-service non-profit with partnerships and networks globally with an equally diverse portfolio of work.
Our current portfolio includes work on COVID-19 research, advocacy and mobilisation, global and pan-African lobbying interventions and strategic partnership development to strengthen and amplify civil society voices working towards solutions to COVID-19 in one of the most unequal regions on earth. Our current operations include work in the SRHR, decolonization, TB, strategy development, advocacy, policy reform and research translation spaces.
This call seeks to identify a senior consultant to develop the African Alliance’s 2022-2024 Strategic Plan
Scope
Facilitate the development of African Alliance’s 2022-2024 Strategic Plan
1. Phase One
Review relevant African Alliance materials (2 days)
Conduct a literature review of regional and global trends in the African Alliances key focus areas (5 days)
2. Phase Two
Develop interview guide for staff & partners (1 day)
Execute, transcribe and analyse interviews (14 days)
3. Phase Three
Develop the first draft of strategic plan (3 days)
Finalise strategic plan & accompanying slide set (2 days)
4. Timeline
Publication of Call: 24th May 2021
Expression of interest close: 4th June 2021
Appointment of consulting partner: 11th June 2021
Phase One complete: 21st June 2021
Phase Two complete: 19th July 2021
Phase Three complete: 13th August 2021
5. Applicants must have:
A minimum of 15 years experience in strategic planning, resource mobilisation and strategy development
Developed a minimum of one strategic plan for a global partner in the development space and/or two strategic plans for regional partners in the development space
6. Duration
The duration of the consultancy is a maximum of 27 days between 11th June 2021 and 13th August 2021.
