How can you make a difference?
 

The Regional Health Section, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is seeking an individual consultant to provide project management for the Regional Office coordination of immunization portfolio including COVID-19 vaccine deployment, across the teams in the regional office as well as with the Country Offices.

The consultant and under the overall guidance of Regional Health/HIV advisor and day to day supervision of the Regional Health Specialist will provide project managerial support to the Regional Office Health team to coordinate between the teams in the Regional Office, Headquarters and with the Country Offices, particularly for those involved in immunization and COVID-19 vaccine deployment and health systems strengthening.
 

Work Assignment:

Under overall guidance from Regional Health Specialist and in close coordination and collaboration with the Immunization Demand Specialist, the consultant will:

  • Undertake a desk review of relevant country documents for select countries (5-6), using publicly available documents and data, as well as those that can be obtained from relevant partners.
  • Undertake a detailed analysis on the zero dose children/communities in these countries (how many, where, why, how and what else they are missing out on), through desk review and interviews.
  • Undertake a training needs assessment for advancing zero dose agenda in the region.
  • Develop generic training materials, and methodology and materials tailored for each selected country based on the detailed analysis and existing materials.
  • Conduct capacity building sessions for UNICEF CO staff, potentially partners, government staff.

Interviews with the selected COs for in-depth analysis including SWAT of the activities (immunization and other sectors) for zero dose children/communities

Conduct training needs assessment for each of the select countries

Develop generic training materials, in consultation with relevant parties

Develop tailored training materials for each country, based on the training needs assessment

 

1 August – 30 October 2022

 (approx. 30 days)

Support RO in the conduct of capacity building of UNICEF COs and potentially others, in advancing the zero dose agenda in the UNICEF EAP region.

 


End Product(s):
 

  • Report on zero dose children/ communities situation in EAP region and the situation and activities in 5-6 selected countries in the region.
  • Report on training needs assessment for each country, related to zero dose children/communities.
  • Generic training materials for advancing zero dose agenda.
  • Tailored training materials for each country, depending on the feasible medium.
  • Capacity building sessions for the selected country offices and region wide sessions for advancing zero dose agenda.

Duration of Contract:  90 working days over 15 January 2022 – 30 June 2022

Working Location Official Travel:   

The consultant will work from own premise with potential travel to 4 countries in the region (depend upon travel restrictions).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
 

  • Advanced university degree with eight years of experience in public health, or other relevant disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience in leading capacity building initiatives including developing training materials
  • Experience and/or in-depth knowledge of Immunization agenda 2030, UNICEF immunization strategy 2018-2030 and other relevant strategies
  • Experience working with UNICEF would be an advantage
  • Excellent communication, writing, analytical, inter-personal and facilitation skills.
  • Experience in reviewing and summarizing health program and research documents.
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity and team works.
  • Proficiency in standard office ICT (information, communication and technology) applications.
  • Previous work experience in East Asia and Pacific Region is an advantage.
