How can you make a difference?

UNICEF HR policies (incl. travel policy revisions; Non-consensual recording; Inter-organization mobility; Shipment revisions; flexible work arrangements) (Parental leave replacement; delivery based consultancy; part-time over 5 months; home-based).

The main deliverables are finalized draft for

1. Travel policy revisions (update of existing policies);

2. Non-consensual recording guidance or procedure (new policy);

3. Inter-Organization mobility (UNICEF Procedure to be updated);

4. UNICEF procedures governing shipment of household effects or unaccompanied (UNICEF procedure requires revisions);

5. UNICEF procedure on flexible work arrangements (requires amendments); or new contract modalities (finetuning existing draft);

6. Draft language for Offer Letter or Letters of Appointment templates as required (amendments, based on policy changes);

6. Other policy drafts or revisions as part of final agreed TOR.

This includes consultations with stakeholders and assessment/implementation of any comments received as well as consultation with the implementing support such as UNICEF Service Center (GSSC) and IT colleagues for any system changes required to implement the policies.

Policies must comply with United Nations Staff Regulations and Rules.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher)
    *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • Relevant professional experience: Excellent English Drafting Skills, Legal or HR Policy Drafting Experience, Experience with policy work with knowledge of United Nations regulatory framework in Human Resources
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
