UNICEF Pacific is currently in the process of implementing key initiatives as part of the transition of on-premises systems to cloud.
• CloudOne and NetOne are some of the projects which are aimed at shifting standard server systems to the cloud as well as enhancement and implementation of gateway security systems. This project has a number of pre-requisites that need to be completed before it can be implemented.
• The UNICEF Pacific office is also expanding its office space and will be occupying a portion of another floor in the same building which would entail the setup of entire ICT systems and services.

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance and supervision of the ICT Officer, UNICEF Fiji is looking to hire a suitable ICT Consultant for 6 months to support the team complete the following activities;

Assist and carry out the implementation of CloudOne project:
• Assist as well as carry out the upgrade of all end user devices to the current version for the field/country offices. This activity would be carried out in consultation with the supervisor and colleagues in the field/country offices
• Install all the required updates, system software’s and applications
• Configuration, testing and training users on new systems and services
• Assisting in identifying common office LAN/ Network Share data that needs to be migrated to CloudOne
• Assist with the planning, data cleansing and migration of common office LAN/Network share data to the cloud
• Providing weekly update on the progress of the activities and overall implementation to the immediate supervision

Assist and carry out the implementation of NetOne project:
• Assist with the installation and testing of security gateway systems, switches and access points for Fiji and Field/Country Offices in the Pacific
• Assist in provide post implementation support and ensuring smooth transition with the implementation of the change.
Carry out the ICT related activities and tasks in setting up the ICT Networking environment for Level 5 and modifying to fit the new arrangement on Level 3
• Ensuring all ICT related activities and tasks are executed by ICT Vendor in line with UNICEF’s standards and requirements
• Assist with the installation and configuration of Networking switches and Access Points
• Assist with the safe relocation and installation of scanners, printers and multi-function devices including other end user devices

Provide technical and helpdesk support to end users as and when required:
• Provides support to all meetings within the office or outside venues as required.
• Maintain and log all requests for computer requests and incidents into Service Gateway platform.
• Participate in analysis of problems, diagnosis and troubleshooting of errors relating to ICT hardware and software systems.

Working Hours
Consultants will be paid a monthly remuneration and expected to work the same working hours as staff in the duty station i.e. Monday – Thursday 8am to 5.30pm & Friday 8am to 2pm (inclusive of 1-hour lunch breaks). Should the consultant be required to work overtime in consultation with the supervisor they will be paid an hourly rate to cover the extended working hours.

Paid time Off
Individual Contractors who are working in a full-time capacity (for a minimum of 1 full month) and with the same working schedule as staff at the duty station (generally office-based, working five weekdays per week and following the office hours) receive Paid Time Off (PTO) credit at the rate of one- and one-half days (1.5 days) for each full month of service. Approval must be sought with the supervisor prior to taking.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A first University Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
  • Good knowledge of ICT end user systems, networking, switches and wireless access points
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and identify solutions to user requests and system issues
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision and with tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
