ROSA Child Protection has been implementing a knowledge management strategy with a focus on the generation and dissemination of evidence and knowledge on child protection, child marriage, and children with disabilities for advocacy and programming in South Asia. Child marriage knowledge management is a joint effort between UNICEF ROSA and UNFPA APRO.
There is a continued need for information and the latest knowledge on child protection topics among child protection staff in the region. ROSA and country offices need easy access to South Asia-specific information and documents about children with disabilities and about children affected by those with disabilities. The second phase of the UNFPA and UNICEF Global Programme to End Child Marriage requires ROSA and APRO to increase support to country offices with knowledge management activities, including strengthened use of evidence in the program implementation. Responses to the COVID-19 pandemic continue to require extensive support from ROSA Child Protection to broker fast-growing knowledge and learning between HQ, regional offices, and country offices as well as external partners.
How can you make a difference?
- Updating the content of five knowledge platforms on SharePoint (child protection, PSEA, COVID-19 response, child marriage, and disability), including maintaining a repository of documents, tools, and other resources with appropriate taxonomy
- Sourcing and disseminating key guidance and tools related to COVID-19 and child protection to country offices in South Asia, while maintaining update on the progress of response and results
- Providing quarterly reviews of about 250 words each in an accessible format to share recent evidence on thematic child protection issues
- Providing a monthly review of about 250 words each in an accessible format to share recent evidence on child marriage and disabilities
- Supporting organization of regional child protection network meeting in Kathmandu, including documentation
- Supporting organization of regional child marriage meeting in Kathmandu, including documentation
- Liaising with knowledge management focal points of ROSA and Child Protection in HQ to ensure cross-learning and complementarity
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in social science-related field of work*A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in child protection and gender-related areas
- Knowledge of child marriage practices in South Asia
- Concrete experience in knowledge management, preferably in the area of child protection, child marriage, and disabilities
- Familiarity with SharePoint and other knowledge-sharing platforms (e.g. Yammer, Teams)
- Experience in organizing and documenting meetings
- Exposure to the UN system and ideally having worked with UNICEF, UNFPA, or UN Women in the past
- Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergencies is considered an asset.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
