How can you make a difference?
The Nutrition Section, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is seeking an individual consultant to produce knowledge products for nutrition from key identified topics across the region, in collaboration with the EAPRO nutrition team.
Work Assignment:
The consultant will contribute to the production of knowledge products for the following key topics:
- Produce six ASEAN Guidance and Minimum Standards documents:
- ASEAN Guidance and Minimum Standards for marketing of Food and Non-alcoholic Beverages to Children
- ASEAN Guidance and Minimum Standards for Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition
- ASEAN Guidance and Minimum Standards for Maternal Nutrition
- ASEAN Guidance and Minimum Standards for School Nutrition
- ASEAN Guidance and Minimum Standards for Food Fortification
- ASEAN Guidance and Minimum Standards on Front of Pack Labelling
For each of the six ASEAN Guidance and Minimum Standards documents conduct the following activities:
- Liaise with the technical writers for the ASEAN Guidance and Minimum Standards document and provide support for the report design and layout development including use of UNICEF picture repository (each report <50 pages)
- Finalize report design and layout and liaise with printers
- Produce knowledge materials for the East Asia and Pacific Maternal Nutrition Technical Consultation
- Finalize the report design and layout of the final report for the East Asia and Pacific Action Framework for Maternal Nutrition
- Develop PowerPoint presentation template for the Maternal Nutrition Technical Consultation
- Finalize the design and layout of 10 PowerPoint presentations documenting priorities for maternal nutrition and country level examples
- Finalize the design and layout of a 40-page model curriculum for maternal nutrition
- Finalise the design and layout of a 20-page model counselling guidance for maternal nutrition
- Produce knowledge materials for the Consortium for Improving Complementary Foods in Southeast Asia (COMMIT)
- Develop PowerPoint presentation template for COMMIT Regional Technical Consultation
- Finalize the design and layout of 8 PowerPoint presentations documenting key findings from COMMIT
- Finalize the design and layout of three 5-page advocacy documents on COMMIT findings
- Finalize the design and layout of six 10-page country level reports on the assessment of micronutrient syrups in six COMMIT countries.
- Finalize the design and layout of seven 20-page country level reports on the assessment of commercially available complementary foods in the seven COMMIT countries.
- Produce knowledge materials for SBCC Capacity Assessment and Curriculum Development
- Finalize the design of three country level briefs (5-8 pages) on the country specific finding of the SBCC Capacity Assessment and Curriculum Development.
- Produce knowledge materials for general nutrition advocacy
- Support the EAPR Nutrition team in the design and layout of five 1-2-page advocacy documents and 3 PowerPoint presentations
Work Schedule:
Time allocation: All deliverables to be completed in 152 days within a period of 11.5 months

Duration of Contract: The contract period begins 01 November 2021 – 15 October 2022.
Working Location: The consultant will work from home.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- BA/BS Degree in international relations, economics, public health nutrition, demography or a related field combined with over 10 years of relevant experience or advanced/master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience
- Prior work experience in UNICEF and working with other international organizations (e.g. ASEAN) is strongly encouraged
- Familiarity with UNICEF style guidelines and publication standards from design aspect
- Familiarity with writing reports for large scale surveys including MICS, DHS, National Nutrition Surveys and urban analysis
- Technical skills in working with report production and design programs such as ADOBE InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator is strongly required
- Familiarity with nutrition landscape of countries in the East Asian Pacific Region
- Knowledge of issues in nutrition, food security and health data analysis
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively in teams and remotely using file sharing platforms
- Proficiency in project management
