How can you make a difference?
The Child Protection Section, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is seeking to hire an individual consultant to support the work on civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS), with a focus on the preparation and the organization of the Second Ministerial Conference on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Asia and the Pacific, implementing further work on the Regional Action Framework and follow up to the decisions from the conference.
Work Assignment:
A consultant is required to:
- Support preparation for the Second Ministerial Conference by reviewing documents for the conference and interacting with editorial and translation services, supporting the consultation process on the Ministerial Declaration from the conference, liaising with co-organizers, development partners and member States, coordinating side events, and preparing briefs and dissemination of materials to support the conference.
- Follow up on targets from the Regional Action Framework identified as lagging, in particular work on inequality assessments
- Follow up to decisions from the Second Ministerial Conference, preparing briefs and materials to do so.
Work Schedule & End Product(s):
The following deliverables will be expected:
- Monthly report on activities conducted to support and follow up to the Ministerial Conference such as preparation of side events and scenarios.
- Monthly reports on activities to support implementation of lagging targets of the Regional Action Framework
Duration of Contract: 6 months (1 October 2021 – 31 March 2022)
Official Travel: If travel will be required, UNICEF to cover travel cost and provide terminal expenses and daily subsistence allowance although only limited travel is envisaged, if at all given current restrictions.
Working Location: The consultant will work in his/her own premises but will regularly report to the supervisors. All office supplies and materials will be provided by the consultant.
Qualifications or Specialized Knowledge/Experience Required:
- Skills: Ability to lead work on statistics and demographics, especially with respect to CRVS. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Academic Qualifications: An advanced degree from a recognized university in demography, statistics, public health, policy analysis or related fields, with preference for a PhD.
- Experience: A minimum 3 years of work experience on demographic data and statistics. Having UN working experience is an asset.
- Language: Fluent English, including written. Preference for additional UN language.
