About Equal Measures 2030

Equal Measures 2030 (EM2030) is a unique cross-sector partnership of leading organizations from civil society and the development and private sectors hosted by Plan International. We work to ensure that girls’ and women’s movements, advocates and decision makers have the data they need, and in a format, they can use, to guide and drive faster progress towards the gender equality commitments in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The partnership is a joint effort of organizations from civil society and the development and private sectors including: Asia-Pacific Resource and Research Centre for Women (Arrow), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, CLADEM, Data2X, the African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET), the International Women’s Health Coalition (IWHC), KPMG International, ONE Campaign, Plan International, Tableau Foundation and Women Deliver.

In order to strengthen advocates’ effective understanding and use of data, EM2030 has worked with its partners to develop Data-Driven Advocacy training materials, which aim to strengthen gender equality advocates’ understanding of how to interpret and present data and evidence to achieve maximum advocacy impact. To date these materials have been used by EM2030 partners across seven countries as the basis for unique and context-specific workshops, which they have delivered to advocates in their networks.

The EM2030 data-driven advocacy workshops are designed to help advocates, particularly those working at the grassroots level, to better understand the role of data in their advocacy. It aims to strengthen their understanding of basic data literacy concepts, develop skills to effectively turn data into statistics and statistics into compelling messages, and to begin planning how they can integrate data across their existing advocacy work.

Project Background

In collaboration with Trust Africa (and as part of Trust Africa’s broader project called “Meeting the challenge of changing social norms to promote equality and empowerment women and girls in Senegal, Mali and Burkina Faso”), EM2030 will design and deliver a 3-day training workshop for women leaders and members of social movements in the development of innovative evidence-based advocacy strategies.

To ensure that the workshop content is highly relevant to the specific needs of advocates focused on gender-based violence in Senegal, Mali and Burkina Faso, EM2030 is seeking a consultant with in-depth knowledge of gender-based violence data, research and advocacy in the three focus countries. The consultant should also have experience designing and facilitating participatory capacity-building workshops for women’s rights organisations and movements.
