The School of Public Health is committed to anti-racism and anti-oppression in our mission and operations. In pursuit of this goal, we consider an individual’s record working with students and colleagues from historically marginalized backgrounds and experience identifying and eliminating systemic barriers to academic success. Because the SPH and the Division seek to increase the diversity of its workforce, we particularly encourage applications from those who belong to groups that have been historically underrepresented in our discipline, including those who are Black, Indigenous, and people of color, those with disabilities, and those from LGBTQIA+ communities.

Duties/Primary responsibilities: Primary responsibilities are related to teaching and training, including:

Teaching multiple (in-person, online, and/or hybrid) graduate courses in maternal and child health per year, specifically in reproductive health and reproductive justice, and/or research methods (e.g., surveillance, MCH epidemiology, MCH program evaluation). Number of credits ranges from 10-15 credits/year.

Developing and enhancing practice and community-based learning opportunities for MCH students

Collaborating on initiatives of the Center for Leadership Education in Maternal and Child Public Health

Advising MCH and perhaps other MPH graduate students and help direct their Applied Practice and Integrated Learning Experience projects;

Engaging community partners in community-focused research;

Committee service as needed (student admissions and retention, service on selected Division and School committees)

Although not a major component of this position, independent research is encouraged. Participation with other faculty and academic staff in writing grant proposals to support research is also encouraged.

Reporting: The person in this position reports directly to the MCH MPH Program Director, with annual performance evaluation by the Division Head (EpiCH) in collaboration with the MCH MPH Program Director.

Appointment and Compensation: The position is a 12-month salaried appointment with an anticipated effort of 80% teaching/advising and 20% administrative responsibilities. However, if the individual has existing research projects related to MCH, there is potential for 60% teaching, 20% administration, and 20% research.
