POSITION SUMMARY

Field Ready is leading an exciting 12-month program in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Working with partners on-the-ground, Field Ready will bring its extensive experience in digital and appropriate manufacturing to connect supply and demand, map capabilities and make essential infection control and PPE items for frontline workers, with the aim of reducing the transmission of COVID-19. This program brings together a set of innovative approaches to make an impact in Bangladesh, Iraq, Kenya and Uganda.

The role of the Data Specialist is critical to the successful delivery of this project. The Data Specialist will work under the direction of the Technical Project Manager and Iraq country lead, working closely with the Manufacturing Engineer and local manufacturing partners, to effectively map and monitor manufacturing capabilities and infection control item need, production, delivery and use in Iraq. They will support the teams to make sure what we learn in Iraq is shared globally.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Data Specialist’s responsibilities for this task include but are not limited to:

  • Collecting data on infection control item demand and supply, using a specialist needs registry platform.

  • Collection of data and mapping of manufacturing capabilities using a global standard and opensource online map.

  • Obtain, compile and analyze data on project outputs and impact, including collecting baseline data.

  • Engage with relevant external stakeholders and convert existing datasets into project format.

  • Verification of manufacturing capabilities and needs

  • Assist in-country team and local engineers in the fullest completion of documentation and meta-data.

  • Responsible for data consistency and integrity across the project in Iraq.

  • Coordinate closely with project staff across Field Ready‘s to ensure their data collection and management needs are met.

  • Produce statistical analysis and reports on project data on request.

  • Ensure there is provision for data security (including strict data handling and confidentiality protocols), weekly backup and recovery control.

  • Regularly participate in staff meetings, external representation, program development and site visits.

  • Contribute to the production of materials such as presentations, annual reports, training materials, position papers, and future funding proposals, as needed.

  • Respond to periodic requests for assistance from other staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.

  • 2+ years of working directly in a data specialist role required.

  • Demonstrable ability to adapt and work effectively in dynamic and demanding operational environments.

  • Possess a creative approach to problem solving.

  • Comfortable with the uncertainty and ambiguity inherent in innovation projects.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and in a collegial fashion with people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.

  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and achieve results through collaboration.

  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills in Arabic and English required – Kurdish an advantage.

  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in MS Office, and data collection tools.

  • Iraqi Nationals are particularly encouraged to apply.
