Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.
We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.
Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.
We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.
We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.
Since adopting our global strategy, 100 Million Reasons, our global work to advance children’s rights and equality for girls has had unprecedented impact. We have been transforming our operations at the Global Hub to be the best possible partner for the 8,000+ staff who work in our country offices, and working to become a more agile, efficient and accountable organization.
We have improved our mechanisms for collaboration, transparency and data-gathering and disaggregation. The transformation has increased the number of decisions to be taken close to the point of impact and distributed power more widely throughout the organisation. We have made significant progress towards greater localisation and developing industry-leading equality, diversity and inclusion best practices.
To bring about lasting change, we have to live our values. We are committed not simply to telling the world we are the go to organisation on girls’ rights, but to embedding justice and equality in all that we do. Will you join us?
The Opportunity
Plan International is developing a more coordinated approach to how it provides short-term support to country offices, aiming to harness the knowledge, skills and experience of our global network in a more efficient and effective way. As the Deployment Manager you will coordinate this support and manage the Disaster Risk Management (DRM) roster for emergencies. You will identify country office resource requirements, create a single resourcing plan and manage its implementation, including optimising staff utilisation, managing the recharging process and communicating the schedule to staff.
In this role you will build a database of deployable staff by recording their specialty areas, knowledge, skills, etc. and by liaising with colleagues across Plan entities to identify additional potential roster members. You will model different demand scenarios in order to predict resource availability for future projects and you will proactively manage the resourcing plan by re-allocating resources as required. You will also work with HR and Finance to manage recharging and pricing.
The Individual
We are looking to recruit a solutions-oriented individual who has experience of DRM roster management and/or resource management in a global organisation at a management level. You will have demonstrable experience of statistical modelling and analysis and have the ability to use the analysis to derive insights and drive decisions and actions. You will have strong project management experience and you will be able to navigate organisational complexity. You will also have knowledge of the International NGO environment, ideally in relation to both humanitarian and development contexts.
To be successful in this role you will have excellent interpersonal skills and you will have the ability to collaborate with teams both inside and outside the organisation. You will have an understanding of the use of IT systems in DRM roster/resource management and you will also have the ability to work with IT specialists on system development and enhancements.
