Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the Deputy Company Secretary at our London office.
Role Purpose:
ROLE PURPOSE:
Save the Children International’s (SCI) Legal Team, led by the General Counsel and Company Secretary, provides legal advice to the organisation’s Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees on all aspects of the charity’s work, ensuring that the charity meets the standards of good governance and fulfils its legal and regulatory responsibilities.
The role of the Assistant Company Secretary is to support the General Counsel and Company Secretary in advising SCI’s Board of Trustees in all governance matters, working closely with the Board Chair, other Trustees, the CEO and other internal stakeholders to ensure the effective governance of SCI at executive and board level. The role holder will also work closely with the Board and the CEO in their roles within Save the Children Association (SCA), a Swiss organisation and parent company of SCI that brings together all members of the Save the Children movement.
This is a demanding and fast-moving role, requiring strategic engagement with senior stakeholders in a complex international federated organisation that works in over 100 countries. This role is also varied in its demands, as the right candidate will need to comfortable engaging with the daily and/or administrative detail of managing the Board.
In order to be successful you will bring/have:
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- A high-performing governance professional who is either fully or part-ICSA qualified (or with equivalent experience), with a proven track record of providing quality governance advice and management support to Boards and Committees;
- Has significant knowledge of charity governance law and practices;
- Is an experienced in senior-level stakeholder management, with ability to build credibility quickly and to communicate with impact, including ability to influence senior stakeholders;
- Has excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and is fluent in English;
- Is a self-motivated and proactive deliverer, demonstrating a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to manage multiple tasks in a highly-pressured environment;
- Has excellent interpersonal skills, high ethical standards, and is a strong team player;
- Demonstrates discretion in dealing with confidential information;
- A strong attention to detail;
- Ability to work autonomously on tasks as required within the instructions of the General Counsel and other senior stakeholders;
- A willingness to undertake a variety tasks, regardless of the associated level of seniority;
- Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Save the Children.
Desirable:
- Good knowledge of SharePoint, MS Teams;
- Experience working across different jurisdictions in the context of an international organisation;
- Fluency in other languages – e.g. Spanish, French, Arabic
This role is based in London.
