Job Summary
The Deputy Controller will analyze the financial status of the company and work with the Global Controller in the review of all financial reports, statements, and contro ls. This position will handle the accuracy and completeness of the organization’s accounting to be in accordance with GAAP. The Deputy Controller will ensure that internal controls are in place, enforced, and reviewed for conformance to accounting and financial standards and applicable regulations.
Roles and Key Responsibilities
- Provide oversight of all accounting activities. Monitor all accounts and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
- Review and analyze financial statements and provide recommendations to Global Controller regarding the company’s accounting processes and financial performance
- Provide advice and assurance on the application of existing and proposed Generally Accepted Accounting. Provide comprehensive financial updates to the Global Controller by analyzing and reporting appropriate data points
- Provide effective supervision to accounting staff by ensuring standard accounting principles are followed. Perform regular reconciliation and analysis of accounts and prepare appropriate corrective actions or documentation for having an accurate Trial Balance
- Oversee the inventory cost accounting processes related to financial activities and reporting in coordination with Supply Chain Management team
- Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow
- Collaborate, design, implement and review finance systems, policies and procedures to ensure continuous improvement across all country programs
- Engage in FS audits by preparing the required reports and addressing to audit queries
- Guide all country programs in consistent application of accounting practices
- Train, coach and develop staff and provide constructive feedback and performance evaluations
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience.
- Minimum of 10 years accounting experience and demonstrated ability to supervise. Certified Public Accountant required
- Strong knowledge and experience in GAAP and the FASB codification
- Solid knowledge of not-for-profit accounting and U.S. Government funding regulations
- Strong finance and accounting knowledge and analytical/problem solving skills
- Strong computer skills, project management skills, process development and enhancement skills
- Demonstrated experience in building and leading teams

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred.
