Sentinel Atlas, formerly SMS Security Consultancy Ltd., is a private security & safety services provider and consulting firm, operating mainly in North Africa and gradually expanding its activities in the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. Through partnerships built over the years, Sentinel Atlas can provide a broad range of tailored security and safety services, making it the preferred choice for European diplomatic representations, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations as well as major corporations. Our head office is based in Malta, from where we carry our back-office & consulting activities.
The desk officer will be part of our Commercial and Operations team and participate in the daily activities of the team, with a focus on MENA and Sahel. This 6-month position is a good opportunity for acquiring a great experience in the sector and, upon performance, it is considered as a trial period leading to a longer contract. Thus, willingness to engage for more than 6 months and to accept geographical mobility are prerequisites of the successful candidate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Desk Officer is a subordinate of the Deputy Managing Director in charge of Business Operations. He is assisting him in liaising with existing and prospective clients, participating in the business development activities of the company, ensuring a follow-up of the back-office tasks of the Operations department and maintaining fruitful cooperation with Sentinel’s partner companies.
The main responsibilities are as follows:
- Follow-up of Sentinel’s pool of clients (existing and prospective ones);
- Developing the business activities of Sentinel (drafting of commercial offers and technical brochures, participating in public tender procedures, etc…);
- Follow-up of the back-office tasks of the Operations department;
- Ensuring the continuous development of Sentinel by maintaining a solid pool of partner companies.
SPECIFIC TASKS
- Supporting the Deputy Managing Director in his client-relations and contract management tasks :
- Acting as client’s point of contact in the absence of the Deputy Managing Director;
- Ensuring contract management-related tasks for Sentinel’s existing clients : quality monitoring of the delivered services, supervising the implementation of all aspects included in the clients contracts, follow-up of the effective compliance of the delivered services with Sentinel’s standards and ensuring clients’ satisfaction;
- Participating in clients meeting (either remotely or on-ground) alongside the Deputy Managing Director.
- Supporting the Deputy Managing Director in his business development tasks :
- Drafting commercial & technical offers;
- Participating in public tender procedures (diplomatic clients, international organisations, etc…);
- Drafting technical & marketing brochures;
- Developing efficient business intelligence tools to identify prospects clients and/or tenders.
- Supporting the Deputy Managing Director for the follow-up of the Operations department :
- Ensuring the follow-up of the Operations department back-office tasks : monitoring of the rotation schedule, of the equipment inventory and any other similar task that might be required by the Deputy Managing Director.
- Supporting the Deputy Managing Director for the follow-up of Sentinel’s partner companies :
- Performance & quality monitoring of Sentinel’s partner companies;
- Drafting due diligence reports for prospects partner companies;
- Accompanying the Deputy Managing Director during his meetings with Sentinel’s partner companies (either remotely or on-ground).
CANDIDATE’S PROFILE
EDUCATION
- You are eligible to work in the European Union;
- You have a Master’s degree in security or any related topic (e.g., international relations) with a focus on security issues, especially on the MENA and Sahel region. A degree in business-related fields is also an asset;
- You have an excellent mastery of English & French (C1 min). Arabic is an asset;
- You have a good knowledge of MS Office pack (especially Excel, Publisher);
- You also have a good knowledge of North Africa, Sahel and Arabic Peninsula countries (asset).
EXPERIENCE & BACKGROUND
- You already have a first professional experience in a high-paced environment, possibly related to security and/or risk management (asset but not mandatory);
- You have a very strong sense of commitment, and willing to challenge yourself, used to teamwork and to take responsibilities;
- You are organised and used to follow at the same time multiple projects even while being under pressure;
- You are detail-oriented, and would be keen to suggest improvements and innovations;
- You are able to show a high degree of flexibility and mobility in working life. (asset).
CONTRACT & BENEFITS
CONTRACT
- 6-month contract with an option for extension upon performance.
LOCATION
- Main location of assignment: Malta;
- Punctual assignments in MENA regions countries;
- Willingness to accept field-deployment is a requisite.
