About Climate Conversations
At Climate Conversations we bring together groups of people to share and work together on meaningful systemic change to secure the future of our home.
Social research shows that many people are concerned about climate breakdown, but do not feel that they know enough to act, or even talk about it. We understand that tackling climate breakdown is too big for an individual, but we can do it together if we use our time well.
About the Role
We’re a small organisation with a large pool of volunteers. We’re looking for an all-rounder but with a strong emphasis on digital communications and engagement who can find ways to make people feel connected and empowered in a post-Covid world.
You’re an energised and ambitious person who is looking to make a difference to our future and can excite people about the opportunities to act on climate. You must be an able communicator and ideally can build the capacity of our volunteers to achieve their own goals.
You would need to:
- Be fluent in engaging and organising people on digital platforms – Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, LinkedIn and, yes, email
- Understand how to use Digital Communications & Social Media to attract and engage a community
- Help our team to transition our face-to-face programs to work with post-covid, online engagement
- Plan strategically to level up the engagement of our volunteers and supporters to meet our goals
- Feel driven to act on the climate crisis and social issues
- Mentor and train volunteers in turning their passion into a practical plan of action
- Create metrics for success, track them and report on them
Experience or knowledge specific to working with organisations with a social purpose is desirable, but not essential.
In a given week you might be:
- Drawing up and executing a digital engagement plan
- Organising and leading training or meetings with our volunteers to find ways we can support them in taking meaningful climate action
- Developing insights into what moves our audience to action, and coming up with ways to connect that to the action on climate that’s needed
- Liaising with volunteer team leaders and enabling them to troubleshoot and grow the capacity of their team
