Opportunity Overview:

We have a new opening for a Documentation Specialist in our IT Department!  The Documentation Specialist writes and maintains documentation for users of our donor systems and other products, ranging from basic documentation for how to use our products to detailed documentation of our processes and how to apply our business rules within our products. This position is critical to ensuring the consistent use of our products and the quality of our data.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Writes documentation about the basic use of our products for internal and external users.
  • Writes detailed instructions for internal users of our products, including documentation of our business rules for entering and maintaining information, processing donations, and responding to donors and other partners.
  • Maintains an online wiki for our internal documentation and ensures that documentation is current and relevant.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of our product suite and how Samaritan’s Purse uses our products.
  • Works collaboratively with team members to ensure consistency between documentation and training materials.
  • Participates in the review and approval of all online training materials related to our products.
  • Creates procedures for all ministry mailings and email blasts that document the recipients, the number mailed, the components, and any special response required.
  • Coordinates and leads the weekly production meeting and maintains online Campaign Information Forms which contain information about Communications and Broadcast campaigns. Maintains and distributes notes from each meeting.
  • Responds to support tickets, especially related to documentation.
  • Serves as backup to support staff as required.
  • Writes and maintains a complete set of test cases to be used for product testing. Assists with testing as needed.

  • Ability to work well with a team and individually
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
