The ECD intern provides technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for the ECD programmes/projects through the application of theoretical and technical skills in researching, collecting, analyzing and presenting technical programme information while learning organizational rules, regulations and procedures to support the development and formulation of the ECD Programme within the Country Programme.

The ECD intern reports to ECD Officer for close guidance and supervision. The intern should be consider as a trainee level for the purpose of acquiring organizational knowledge of rules, regulations and processes to supplement academic and theoretical knowledge of the profession for upward mobility to higher responsibilities. Incumbents at this level are not expected to remain for an extended period of time in the post.

How can you make a difference?

Support to ECD programme development and planning

  • Participate in analyze regional and national political, social and economic development trends having an impact on ECD. Research, collect, analyze, verify and synthesize information to facilitate programme development, design and preparation.
  • Collaborate with elaboration of technical reports and inputs for programme preparation and documentation ensuring accuracy, timeliness and relevancy of information.
  • Support in providing technical and administrative support throughout all stages of programming processes by executing/administering a variety of technical programme transactions, preparing materials/documentations and complying with organizational processes and management systems, to support programme planning, results based planning (RBM) and monitoring and evaluating results.
  • Support in the preparation of required ECD documentations/materials to facilitate the programme review and approval process.
  • Draft communication and information materials for CO program advocacy to promote awareness, establish partnerships/alliances and support resource mobilization for ECD programmes/projects.

The efficiency and efficacy of support provided by the ECD intern to the programme preparation and planning and implementation of programmes/projects, contributes to the achievement of sustainable results on ECD programmes. Success in ECD programmes and projects in turn contributes to maintaining/enhancing the credibility and ability of UNICEF to provide programme services for mothers and children that promotes greater social equality in the country.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields is required: education, public administration, public health, nutrition, economics, psychology, sociology, human development, child development, family studies or another relevant technical field.

  • No experience is required

  • Spanish Native. Fluency in English is considered as an asset.

To be considered for an internship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Be proficient in at least one of UNICEF’s working languages: English, French or Spanish. Fluency in the working language of the office you are applying to is required.
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
  • Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office; and Have no other relatives in the line of authority that the intern will report to.
  • Additional consideration will be given for any past experience.

  • Letter from the University, presenting the interested student and indicating the formal internship application. Include the degree, ongoing / completed studies and their academic performance.
  • Current medical insurance certificate (Isapre, Fonasa, International Insurance, Accident Insurance or similar)
  • Updated CV (Including your contact details, residence and an emergency contact)
  • Copy of your Identity Card (Cédula de Identidad/RUT) or valid passport.
