Summary of position:
Export Development Canada (EDC) co-located at the Consulate General of Canada in Sydney, has a position available for a Program Coordinator on a full-time basis working 37.5 hours per week. Under the general supervision of the EDC Chief Representative, the Program Coordinator acts as an experienced assistant and provides information, technical, logistical and administrative support for EDC’s market activities, in support of EDC’s foreign strategy in Australia and New Zealand (“the region”).

The successful candidate is a self-starter, and efficiently carries out research and other special projects assigned. Using English and/or French, independently engages in project management with respect to business origination, account management, transaction facilitation, corporate development, relationship management, and market intelligence activities. Also provides administrative support for EDC’s regional representation.

The Program Coordinator may also be asked to provide information and input in the creation, translation and processing of letters, speeches, powerpoint decks, and documents as required by the EDC Chief Representative.

This role also includes responsibilities such as individual business development projects, representing EDC to clients while the Chief Representative is away, as well as providing guidance and advice to EDC clients, EDC teams, and Trade Commissioners’ teams.

 

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and résumé how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• Successful completion of a bachelor’s level university degree from a recognized institution or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Language:
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written in English are required.

Experience:
• 5 years of administrative experience (within the last 7 years);
• Strong customer relations skills and excellent research abilities;
• Experience in the analysis, planning and coordinating of major and minor projects involving many stakeholders and virtual teams across time zones;
• Experience in customer relationship building.;

Rated Requirements:

The following Rated Requirements will be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination and interview.

Knowledge:
• Advanced computer skills (Microsoft products, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
• Project management and organizational skills, analytical, research and data management skills.

Competencies and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate quickly and clearly, both orally and in writing in English;
• Ability to problem-solve to provide advice to clients;
• Ability to research, to gather and analyze information and market intelligence;
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships/business networking and
• Ability to work under pressure/to be organized and prioritize.

 

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter andrésumé.

Operational Requirements:
• Working hours are Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week – 8:30 to 16:30
• Must be available for occasional duties outside normal working hours (i.e., evenings and weekends), sometimes on short notice.

 

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Only Australian citizens, permanent residents or those holding a valid visa permitting them to work indefinitely in Australia will be eligible to apply.
