Editorial Manager

Job Summary

This position is to support WRI’s editorial efforts, writing and editing articles and commentary pieces, as well as other communication products. The position will also provide strategic support to programs. The position is term-limited through January 2022. (It is intended to back-fill for staff who are out on leave.)

Job Responsibilities

Editorial (75%)

  • Write and edit articles, commentary and other materials
  • Review written materials from programs
  • Edit written materials for graphics and videos
  • Support written internal communications such as Snapshots
  • Pitch editorial pieces to the media
  • Write or edit press releases, as needed
  • Support for writing/editing on WRI’s digital sites

Other Communications (15%)

  • Support other communication efforts, such as strategy development
  • Support social media, marketing and other tasks

Other responsibilities (10%)

  • Support other communication needs for the Global Director of Communications and Core Comms Team
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in journalism, communications, international relations or similar
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant full time experience required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience writing and editing professional pieces that have been placed in news and digital outlets
  • Experience leading communication strategies
  • Knowledge of social media strategies and digital platforms
  • Flexible, deadline driven and able to work under pressure
  • Experience working with senior level staff
  • Passion for environment and human development issues
  • US work authorization required

Potential Salary

$79,000 – $106,000.
Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
