Position: Education Assistant
Reports to: Education Project Coordinator
Supervision of: Education Assistants
Duty station: Anbar
Travel: Regular travel to be expected
Duration and type of contract: Until 31, Dec-2021 (with the possibility of extension)

Generic responsibilities
- Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines
- Strict adherence to the NRC Code of Conduct
- Assist with the implementation of the education project according to the plan of action
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
- Ensure proper filing of documents
- Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
- Make decisions on the ground with limited or remote supervision
Specific responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of educational activities including TiCC teacher training, peer coaching, and TLCs, under the direction of the Education Officer
- Supervise education incentive staff and provide support to field staff in line with program objectives and NRC quality standards
- Ensure direct communication and feedback with beneficiaries and relevant host communities
- Ensure and accurately document monitoring and reporting of projects at the field level
- Organize, support, and participate in Mother’s Group, PTA, camp, and community-level meetings
- Regularly travel to the field to support education, recreation, and PSS activities
- Organize and implement distributions of teaching and learning materials
- Share the weekly report and work plan with the project officer
- Any other task relevant to the position as requested by the line manager
Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Generic professional competencies:
- Experience working in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts; ability to remain calm and professional intense situations
- Documented results related to previous responsibilities
- Knowledge of English and Arabic.
- Solid computer skills, including MS Word, Outlook and Excel
- Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Ability to work diligently both independently and in a team setting
Specific skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Understanding the circumstances, needs and challenges refugee/IDP children face
- Understanding of the role of education in meeting the needs of IDP/refugee populations
- Understanding of SPHERE and/or INEE minimum standards
- Knowledge of the basics of Child Protection and/or psychosocial support
- Experience working with children and/or educators; MoE-level experience a plus
- Experience in community mobilization and/or relationship building
- Candidates with a university and/or advanced degree preferred
