Internship Summary
In this internship you will be part WRI Europe’s team working on engagement and development with the European Union institutions. You will focus on conducting research and analysis of EU funding opportunities for WRI from EU research and innovation funds like Horizon Europe, EU development cooperation grants and EU tenders and support internal coordination around such opportunities and provide briefings on policy developments relevant to WRI’s scope of work. You will also support outreach and engagement activities with EU, EU based organizations and EU partners including network building, meetings management and preparation.
This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain experience in an international NGO that is committed to contributing to the advancement of the Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement. You will have the opportunity to learn how governments and (I)NGOs can partner and collaborate in order to achieve development outcomes, including on climate and environmental issues.
Your tasks will include:
- Analyzing the policy priorities and funding modalities of European Union institutions, and identifying possible overlaps with WRI’s program of work
- Drafting briefings for our Global Programs and International Offices
- Supporting enhanced internal coordination and knowledge management around EU institutions incl. via Salesforce (CRM) and WRI’s Intranet website
- Assist with meetings management and other external communication tasks
- Lead logistical preparations for (online)conferences, workshops and visits of high level WRI staff to the WRI Europe office, including organizing meetings and travel
- Coordinate closely with international office staff to strengthen links between WRI Europe and other WRI international offices. These efforts also entail generating inputs for internal WRI communications
- Other assignments as needed in raising WRI’s profile with EU institutions and agencies
- Other administrative tasks as required.
Profile
You are currently a student following a Degree (Master’s degree preferred) in International Relations, Environment Studies, Development Studies, or Political Science and are looking to learn more about the work we do at WRI. You are flexible, enthusiastic about our work and available full-time for the majority of the internship period.
Internship Qualifications
Students need to be registered at a Dutch college or university for the full duration of the internship.
Compensation
This internship offers a reimbursement of 300 euros per month.
Duration
This internship is full-time for six months starting 6th September 2021.
Location
The Hague, with flexibility for remote working.
