Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Satellite Office and direct supervision of the National Project Officers, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for the coordination and implementation of relevant IOM activities in her/his area of responsibility.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Closely work with the project team in Zamboanga to facilitate the preparations and implementation of field activities, events, assessments, and admin support as needed.

  2. Collect data and other information relevant to IOM and its programmes, and report to the supervisors accordingly.

  3. Facilitate meetings with counterparts and act as interpreter in the exchange of information and on the occasion of official meetings.

  4. Conduct regular field visits and participate in internal and external coordination meetings.

  5. Submit regular reports and relevant project documents to the supervisors in a timely manner.

  6. Assist in the day-to-day operational, administrative, and logistical activities as required, including preparation of reports, organization of meetings and assistance to field missions of authorized personnel, including IOM staff, donors and relevant stakeholders.

  7. Provide regular updates on the context, community situations, security issues, and other significant events in the Areas of Responsibility.

  8. Keep regular contacts and coordinate activities with local authorities, implementing partners, target communities as requested by supervisors.

  9. Assist in monitoring the progress of project activities in the Areas of Responsibility.

  10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

· Preferably with bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Political or Social Science, Social Work, Health, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

· Experience in humanitarian, development and/or peacebuilding projects, an advantage

· Experience working with Island Provinces of BARMM and the Zamboanga Peninsula, preferred

· Extensive field work with counterparts from the government, international organization, and/or other international and national NGOs, an asset.

· Experience in the usage of office software like MS Word, Excel, etc.**

Skills

· Basic IT skills for data collection and computer literacy required

· Knowledge of context in Mindanao, particularly that of the Zamboanga Peninsula, or the Provinces Basilan, Sulu, or Tawi-tawi (ZamBaSulTa), a distinct advantage

· Extensive knowledge of ZamBaSulTa cultural practices and context preferred.**

Languages

Fluency in English and Filipino is required. Conversant with Sulu language is an advantage.
