Field Coordination Officer

Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Under the supervision of the Field Coordination Advisor, the UNV will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Support the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) in planning and coordinating the electoral field offices, including the selection of polling centres;
  • Contribute to capacity building of IHEC by providing support, technical assistance and advice;
  • Support the Field Coordination Advisor in ensuring that all field offices are related activities are implemented, monitored and reported in a timely manner;;
  • Ensure that decisions, guidance and instructions from the OEA and IHEC are shared with the field offices in timely manner;
  • Monitor women’s participation in all aspects of electoral process and provide periodic reports;
  • Monitor, analyse and troubleshoot for ongoing field operations;
  • Compile and consolidate a weekly report on electoral activities from all OEA field offices as directed by head of section;
  • Assist and support the Head of Section in the compilation of briefings and reporting;
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point;
  • Monitor women’s participation in all aspects of electoral process and provide periodic reports
  • Conduct periodic field visits to the OEA field offices;

Perform other related duties as assigned.


Bachelor degree or equivalent


  • A first-level university degree, in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Public Administration, or a related field.


24 Months

  • A minimum of two years progressively responsible experience in electoral assistance; supervising, implementing, supporting or advising on Field and Operations processes is required;
  • Experience in developing countries is required, and experience in post-conflict situations is desirable;
  • Experience providing services to or in a field operation of the United Nations Common System or a comparable international organization is an advantage;
  • Knowledge of UN rules, regulations, policies and procedures an asset;

  • English(Mandatory), Level – Fluent
  • Arabic(Mandatory), Level – Working Knowledge


Election support activities, Election management

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point;
