Finance and Administration Manager (m/f/d) for the Joint Action Capacity for Nutrition (C4N)
The Joint Action ‘Capacity for Development (C4N)’ is a component of the ‘Knowledge for Nutrition (K4N)’ programme. K4N aims to support the European Commission (EC), its partners as well as the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) with competence and knowledge to inform nutrition-related programmes and policies through evidence-based approaches and strategies. C4N aims to strengthen capacities to enhance the knowledge base of the EC, EU Delegations, EU Member States and partner countries to advance the combat against all forms of malnutrition. C4N is a key element of the EC’s ‘Nutrition for Development Programme (N4D)’, which underpins the implementation of the EU ‘Action Plan for Nutrition (APN)’.
The tasks of the Finance and Administration Manager include
Under the guidance of the K4N Finance Manager and the C4N Coordinator:
- Performance of all finance and administration functions for C4N. This includes financial planning, monitoring, controlling and reporting of budgets, commitments, cost units and cost centres, providing financial administration support to the Finance Manager, the C4N Coordinator and the K4N Programme Director;
- Advising the C4N coordinator and the team on all finance and admin issues;
- Preparation for and support of internal and external audits;
- Managing procurement requests in accordance with GIZ rules and procedures, informing the team on the status of procurement processes and coordinating effectively with country and regional offices and the GIZ Contract and Procurement Department;
- Preparation for and support of financial contribution to financing agreements, local-subsidy and grant agreements;
- In collaboration with the C4N Office Manager, organisation of internal and external events (e.g. conferences, seminars).
The following qualifications and experiences are required
- University degree in business administration or comparable education/training;
- At least three years of experience in business administration, accounting and management;
- Relevant experience in international organization/technical cooperation agencies is an added advantage;
- Relevant experience with GIZ and EU co-financed projects is a strong advantage;
- High degree of intrinsic motivation and adaptability and flexibility within a rapidly changing environment;
- Ability to work in a team with good priority management, attention to detail and organisational talent as well as a customer service orientation;
- Excellent skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
- Excellent English language skills (in writing, reading and speaking) and very good knowledge of German (C1 level) and French (B2 level) are required.
What we offer
We offer you a contract from mid-August, latest 1st September, 2021 until 31st July 2024 with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Brussels under Belgian law. The position will be remunerated according to the level of experience. In addition to the legal holidays, you will receive 5 extra days of holiday per calendar year, as well as home office compensation, lunch checks, health insurance for hospitalisation and the reimbursement of a monthly ticket for Brussels public transport.
The place of work is Brussels. A valid work permit for Belgium is required.
