About the role
As Finance Officer you will be responsible for preparation of budgets, reports and financial planning within the Finance and Administration Department in the region. You will also manage some of the financial matters within the Europe and MENA programme.
A fundamental part of the role is to keep abreast with the economic developments in focus countries in Europe and MENA in terms of audit directives and directives from our donors. This applies in particular directives from Svensk Insamlingskontroll, FRII and local legislation. You will also play an important role in the implementation of the financial system Maconomy in the Western Balkans.
The Finance Officer reports to the Europe and MENA Department Director.
Your key activities will be to:
- Control the economic aspects of work in the Western Balkans
- Coordinate economic cooperation with our donors, from applications to the debriefings
- Coordinate preparation of all budgets to different donors
- Manage the daily financial work in our offices in the Western Balkans
- Implement the internal work such as budgeting and reporting work
- Fully manage daily financial work in Regional Europe office in Belgrade with regards to internal control, anti-corruption and other policies
- Manage implementation of all financial aspects of approved budgets
- Have a close cooperation with the Accounting team at the headquarter in Stockholm
- Assist Director for Europe in all relevant duties that are important for implementation of programme work

To be suitable for this role you have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Economics or an equivalent education
- Documented knowledge in the financial field
- At least 3 years of relevant professional work experience, especially in accounting, budgets etc in a financial system
- Experience from similar work within the non-profit sector
- Strong skills to use Microsoft 365 tools, especially Word and Excel, effectively
Experience from working with project accounting is highly preferable. Other merits for the position are:
- Proficiency in Bosnian/Croatian/Montenegrin/Serbian or another language from the South-East Europe languages
- Experience from implementing a financial system (such as Maconomy)
- Experience from working with a NGO or a consultancy company (where you are used to time-reporting on different projects)
