Job Summary/General Purpose of Job
This position prepares transactions for input into the Association’s financial systems, processes the transactions, validates and balances input, researches and responds to questions regarding accounting transactions from staff, vendors, customers, and members. Sorts and files documents and performs calculations. Prints and validates various accounting documents, including checks, statements, and deposit totals depending on specialized accounting area assigned.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent)
Prepares transactions for input after verifying that proper accounting policies and procedures have been followed.
Inputs transactions into financial system.
Validates and balances input.
Phone communication with Vendors/Customers.
Prints and validates various accounting documents, including checks, statements, and deposit totals depending of specialized accounting area assigned.
Follows up on processing exceptions.
Researches and responds to questions regarding accounting transactions from staff, vendors, customers, and members.
Performs other related duties as required.
Required Education, Qualifications, Experience
High School Diploma of general education degree (GED) (or equivalent experience).
Clerk 6 months to 2 years experience in processing financial transactions in specialized accounting area.
Excellent computer input skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Education, Qualifications, Experience
Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
Previous audit experience in a not-for-profit and/or grant environment.
Previous experience working with or leading internal audit projects.
