The Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PSFP) Section within the Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) works with National Committees and UNICEF Country Offices to maximize income and drive income growth.
The PFP Individual Giving Unit based in Geneva provides global support to fundraising country offices (COs). A key part of any fundraising operation is to be able to provide fit-for-purpose digital platforms & systems that allow UNICEF to serve, manage and understand its supporters. Effective CRM and associated engagement systems are critical in maximizing and optimizing fundraising performance which allow UNICEF to help the world’s most in-need children.
The Digital Delivery Team, sitting within the Individual Giving Unit, PSFP, PFP in UNICEF is responsible to provide direct technical support and guidance to fundraising markets on platforms and systems that enable stronger fundraising performance – through managing, engaging, understanding and communicating with our supporters more effectively. The vision: become the largest and most successful digital fundraising operation in the world.
For every child, a Champion
The fundraising specialist will play a key role within digital delivery of the Individual giving section by acting as the global focal point on fundraising CRMs and mass marketing systems, providing oversight, guidance and specific help in the technical migration and development to maximize fundraising results across UNICEF markets.
How can you make a difference?
The role will be required to provide support to markets around four key areas:
1. Implementation and Development
- providing support in the delivery of large projects, or new technology including new CRM, marketing tools, new payment methods or banking processes and other ad-hoc projects.
- Collaborate with markets, the Individual giving team, wider UNICEF divisions such as ICTD and third-party vendors to ensure the best technology and use thereof maximizes Individual giving performance.
- Lead the implementation of new CRM and mass marketing systems in markets from an individual giving perspective.
- Support the upgrade of payment processes to improve operational efficiency and mitigate risk.
- Help to project manage the agile development process by story prioritization, sprint planning, backlog grooming etc.
- Ensure offices have the correct level of support with initial implementation / go live by providing oversight, support and guidance on both business and technical aspects.
- Investigate, assess and support in the implementation of new processes such as payment gateways, reporting models etc.
2. Capacity Development
- The practice of knowledge sharing, best practice, communication, training, advice, and oversight.
- Act as the global reference of knowledge on CRM and engagement systems within and disseminate that knowledge to relevant markets.
- Conduct on site / remote training sessions where appropriate.
- Facilitate the sharing of best practice via workshops, social media, and fundraising intranet and on an ad-hoc basis. Create & share global resources.
- Support markets during procurement of new vendors, services and technology.
3. Analytics and Innovation
- To ensure systems are aligned and optimized to provide clear analysis and insights to maximize global individual giving income.
- Work with analytical / data teams to ensure data standardization and consistency of reporting across all platforms.
- Understand key reporting structures and metrics to ensure systems and platforms align.
- Track the global developments in fundraising and engagement platforms across the sector, and beyond, maintaining relationships with key contacts in the technology industry.
- Identify opportunities to update/upgrade systems and platforms and develop the business case for doing so.
4. Operational support
- Providing or sourcing and coordinating operational support on various systems such as CRM, Digital donation systems, PCI-compliance and mass email etc.
- Become a key focal point for market support on Individual Giving based systems and platforms including Sales & Marketing Cloud products from Salesforce.
- Implement business processes that mitigate risk in areas of financial compliance and data privacy practices.
- Maintain an Issue support log and source the appropriate resource to address issues for a satisfactory / timely resolution.

Education
- An advanced university degree is required in one of the following fields: Information Technology, Software development / design, Digital with a business, or fundraising related aspect – or another relevant technical field.
- Alternatively, a first level university degree in a relevant field combined with seven years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in IT, Digital / digital payments, Database Administration, Marketing technology or similar field is required.
- Strong experience in CRM system implementations and operational management, especially for fundraising is required.
- Experience in Salesforce implementation in B2C environments is highly desirable, as is experience with other CRM platforms (MS Dynamics, Raisers Edge etc.).
- Experience in Fundraising, especially individual giving processes along with transaction / income processing strongly preferred.
- Experience in common fundraising data analysis, reporting techniques and metrics is highly desirable.
- Detailed experience of payment / banking systems, cultures and processes is desirable.
- Excellent project management experience is highly desirable.
- Experience of general data management processes (migration / integrations etc.) is highly desirable.
Language requirements:
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
