Main Responsibilities This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced farrier to make a difference in the lives of working equids across the world. You will need to be passionate about improving animal welfare, training farriers to deliver better quality hoof care globally and promoting farriery as a desirable profession.
We are looking for a farrier with good leadership and project management skills to take the ambitious Global Farriery Project into the next phase by working closely with a team of international animal health, welfare and community development colleagues and consultant farriers to develop an international network of in-country farrier trainers.
Skills and Experience required You will need to have a minimum of five years practical experience as a farrier and be able to demonstrate excellent skills in training others. You will lead a global team as they deliver farriery training in low resource settings and will be happy creating innovative learning resources for both in-person and distance teaching, including designing online learning.
You will need to be able to travel overseas as part of this role and will be happy to travel independently and to organise overseas trips for a team of farriery consultants. Experience in travelling and working overseas is desirable, but flexibility and the ability to adapt to challenging, low resource settings is essential.
You will act as an ambassador for the Global Farriery Project and animal welfare and must be happy presenting the project externally, with both professional and lay audiences, and be able to demonstrate a passion for the goals of the global farriery project.
Closing Date: 31 October 2021
