Chemonics seeks a grants technician for the ongoing USAID Human Rights Accountability Activity (RED-DH) in Mexico. The project aims to continue building the capacity of Mexico’s human rights institutions to more effectively and accountably respond to and prevent human rights violations—in particular forced disappearances and torture—at the federal and state levels. The Grants Technician will support management and design of the grants program in accordance with USAID and Chemonics policies and regulations. This position will be based in Mexico City. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Support in reviewing and preparing terms of reference for technical activities financed through the grants program, including, but not limited to, the developing and publishing calls for grants
- Collaborate in technical and administrative evaluation of grants proposals, including preparing technical reports on the evaluation process and selection results
- Participate in necessary technical feedback process for proposals that are received within the framework of the grants program
- Review and comment on deliverables from subcontractors and grants beneficiaries to ensure compliance with objectives established for each
- Support monitoring implementation of RED-DH activities, verifying compliance in a timely manner with the precisions of grants agreements, and that expenses are reasonable, applicable and pertinent
- Support grants management in correct application of the RED-DH grants program according to the grants manual
- Support proper safeguarding, classification and filing of documentation derived from calls, evaluation criteria and notes of the evaluation committee in the pre-award determination process and its documentation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, finance, international relations or related degree
- Minimum of four years experience in managing grants under international development projects
- Knowledge of USAID and Chemonics processes and regulations relevant to grants allocations
- Must have demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team, showing initiative to carry out activities in their scope of work
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English
