EHPA is looking for an experienced Head of EU Affairs to cover a maternity leave from July to December 2021. Ideally the person would start in June to allow for a proper handover. There is possibility for extension.

The Head of the EU affairs manages the EHPA Policy team. He/She coordinates EHPA’s policy work under the supervision of EHPA’s Secretary General, Advocacy and Communications committee (ADCO) and Board. We are looking for a strategic minded person who will lead advocacy campaigns and have an impact on EU policies.

Responsibilities:

Strategy

  • creating, reshaping and proposing EHPA policy priorities according to EHPA’s Vision and Mission to the ADCO and the Board and implement them
  • creating, reshaping and proposing updates on EHPA policy action program according to EHPA’s Work program to the ADCO and implement them

Policy

  • monitoring regulatory and political developments of relevance to the heat pump industry in Europe (reading material, attending meetings and events)
  • preparing EHPA’s positions and EHPA’s contributions to joint positions to be adopted by the relevant EHPA committees and task forces, as well as drafting amendments to legal texts
  • preparing policy messages and contents to EHPA events, publications, letters and campaigns (in collaboration with EHPA’s Communication experts)
  • building, strengthening and maintaining relevant connections with policy-makers (especially, with MEP’s assistants, national energy attachés and EC officials) and other stakeholders
  • proactively representing EHPA at meetings and events relevant for EHPA policy work organised by policy-makers, EHPA Members or other stakeholders

Communication

  • coordinating updates of the policy part of the website and market report, providing internal news covering relevant policy developments to EHPA members and staff and for the weekly wrap-up
  • structuring all relevant policy documents and make them available for the members

Committees

  • coordinating the work of the Advocacy and communications committee under the supervision of ADCO’s chair
  • coordinating and/or contribute to EHPA policy task forces and EHPA’s policy chats
  • contributing to EHPA Board and Committee meetings

Management

  • Coordinating the work of the policy team
  • Attend monthly management meetings
  • Coordinating and reporting on the budget of the Policy Team
  • Support onboarding of new employees in the Policy Team

Profile:

  • In depth expertise of EU affairs (EU law and/or political studies)
  • Excellent writing and authoring skills including for legal texts
  • Proficiency in English, another language is a plus
  • Good knowledge of energy sector, sustainable development
  • Expertise in identification of common interests among diverse stakeholders
  • Public speaking
  • Meeting facilitation (negotiation, crisis management, coordination)
  • Excellent knowledge of drafting position papers
  • At least 3-5 year of work experience in a similar position
  • Experience in communicating in a professional way
  • Positive attitude, flexible, team-player, sense of humour
  • Working permit in Belgium
